Four questions to ask

  1. Wet or dry?

If there is any liquid, you need a wet/dry vacuum. A HEPA dust extractor is for dry dust.

  2. How fine is the dust?

Visible debris is shop vac work. Fine dust from sanding, grinding or cutting needs HEPA filtration.

  3. How big is the area?

A large flat floor suits a sweeper. Stairs and tight rooms suit a backpack vacuum.

  4. Is it connected to a tool?

Tell us the tool. Dust extractors connect by hose to grinders, saws and sanders.
